DIS signs joint submission on the EU AI Act Guidelines
The DIS has joined 15 leading arbitral institutions in submitting a joint response to the European Commission's public consultation on the draft Guidelines for high-risk AI systems under the EU AI Act.
DIS Sponsorship Award 2027/2028 - Call for Applications
The DIS rewards young academics in the field of alternative dispute resolution with the DIS Sponsorship Award. The call for new applications is now open. The award is granted every two years for outstanding academic works (e.g. dissertation or a post-doctoral thesis) and it is valued at €15,000.

The Berlin Dispute Resolution Days (BDRD) continue to grow year after year – and 2026 is no exception. With 75 events already registered for this year’s BDRD, the number of events has significantly surpassed last year’s total of 44. The DIS will be represented at 12 further events held as part of the BDRD.

Joint Doctoral Seminar on Arbitration and ADR by DIS and CIDR (Bucerius Law School)
One of the DIS’ main goals is to support research on arbitration-related topics and to further develop German and international arbitration law. To this end, DIS collaborated with the Center for International Dispute Resolution (CIDR) at Bucerius Law School for the yearly Doctoral Seminar on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

DIS@IAD 2026: Arbitration in Energy Disputes. The Users Meet the Practitioners
The bilateral Italian-German AIA/arbit/CAM/DIS Arbitration Group recently organised not one but two gatherings – on 12 June 2026 as a “DIS@IAD” side event to the Italian Arbitration Day in Rome and on 15 June 2026 in Berlin in collaboration with the Italian Center of the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin.
Arbitration in Germany and Italy 2026 — Recent Developments
At Freie Universität Berlin, Christian Armbrüster, alongside Co-Chair Cecilia Carrara (Legance), welcomed the audience to an insightful debate on “Arbitration in Germany and Italy – Recent Developments”. This well-attended gathering replicated the success of a previous event under the same conference title in 2024.
DIS represented at Japan International Arbitration Week and in international mediation conference in Kyoto
The DIS was invited as the only non-Asian institution among the supporting organisations in late July when the Japan International Mediation Center (JIMC) held its 8th Anniversary Seminar, part of this year’s Japan International Arbitration Week 2026 (JIAW2026).
