Election of the DIS Board – Call for Candidates

The elections of the DIS Board (pursuant to § 7 of the DIS Statutes) will take place on 10 December 2025 from 4.00 to 6.00 pm CET. The meeting will be held virtually, making it convenient for all members to participate.

Changes at the Appointing Committee of the DIS

We are glad to announce the following changes to the Appointing Committee of the DIS effective 1 October 2025.

Final Report of the Practice Group Settlement of the DIS Rules Clinic

We are pleased to announce that the DIS Practice Group Settlement has finalized its report on early conflict resolution, a key feature of the 2018 DIS Arbitration Rules.

Survey – we need your Support!

We would like to register our logo, 'Berlin Dispute Resolution Days', as a word and design trademark. To do so, we need to prove sufficient market recognition – and we need your help!

Changes at the DIS Secretariat

To keep the DIS strong and forward-looking, we have updated our internal structures. Our aim is to further improve our services and strengthen knowledge and quality management – for even more efficient and user-friendly case administration.

General Assembly with Changes to the Statutes and DIS Integrity Principles

Members approved important reforms to the Statutes and the DIS Integrity Principles at the DIS General Assembly on 3 July 2025 in Bonn.

New German-Norwegian Arbitration Group

The latest addition to our bilateral arbitration groups (Ländergruppen) comes from Norway.

Survey – IBA Task Force on Reception of IBA Arbitration Soft Law Instruments

We would like to draw your attention to the following survey: The IBA Arbitration Committee Task Force is updating its 2016 Report on the Reception of IBA Arbitration Soft Law.

ASA Arbitration Retreat 2025 jointly organised with DIS

The ASA Arbitration Retreat is based on a format that was originally developed by ASA in 1997 with subsequent annual seminars hosted by ASA in cooperation with other arbitration associations and institutions in Europe and Asia.

Four-Country Conference 2025 (Vierländerkonferenz)

We cordially invite you to attend the Four-Country Conference, jointly organised by the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the Liechtenstein Arbitration Association (LIS), the Austrian Arbitration Association (Arb|Aut), the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), the Swiss Arbitration Centre and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC).

Save the Date: Petersberg Arbitration Days 2026 (Petersberger Schiedstage)

In cooperation with publishing house C. H. Beck, DIS will again organise the Petersberg Arbitration Days in 2026.

Over 500 participants from 18 countries, and more than 450 guests at the Gala Dinner – the DIS Autumn Conference 2025 was our largest edition yet and once again the centerpiece of the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days.

Berlin Dispute Resolution Days 2025

Arbitration practitioners from Germany, Europe, and beyond came together in the capital city of Berlin to discuss the role of arbitration amid global challenges and the rapid transformation of the legal landscape Practitioners and academics from 8-11 September 2025 for the fourth annual Berlin Dispute Resolution Days.

DIS Stuttgart: Challenges of ESG Disputes

On 25 September 2025, the DIS Regional Group Stuttgart organised an event that focused on the growing challenges of ESG disputes.

Lunch DIScussions: Arbitrating ESG: Legal Developments and Practical Insights

On 9 October 2025, the latest edition of the Lunch DIScussions series explored the role of arbitration in handling ESG-related disputes.

Onshore and offshore wind farms are large and notoriously complex projects that involve heavy financial investment and include numerous players at different levels from planning over construction to operation and maintenance.

DIS@Toronto: Supply Chain Disputes

Disputes in global supply chains are becoming increasingly complex, often involving multiple parties across different jurisdictions. This presents a challenge to the ability of arbitration to deliver coherent outcomes across interconnected contracts.

The DIS@-events tour on wind farm disputes had its next stop at Singapore Convention Week on 29 August 2025. The event was very well attended with some 65 participants.

DIS@Vilnius: DIScover Ways to Involve Third Parties in Arbitration - German and Baltic Perspectives

The DIS was honoured to visit Vilnius for the first time as an arbitral institution on 11 September 2025 at the outset of Vilnius Arbitration Day.

Resilience meets Arbitration - Drafting School on International Contract Law and Dispute Resolution

From 15 to 18 September 2025, 18 Ukrainian students and their coaches, gathered upon the invitation of the DIS and the IRZ at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow for the Drafting School on International Contract Law and Dispute Resolution.

DIS@Atlanta: Wind Farm Disputes – Global Perspectives

The latest DIS signature arbitration-week-events on wind farm disputes drew in participants from all over the United States and beyond. The 1 October 2025 event was in Atlanta, preceding the 14th Annual Conference of the Atlanta International Arbitration Society (Atlas).
