DIS offers Supplementary Rules for Third-Party Notices (DIS-TPNR)

Since 15 March 2024, the German Arbitration Institute (DIS) offers supplementary rules that allow for the filing of third-party notices in an arbitration. 

UNCITRAL Working Group II Session on Highly Expedited Dispute Resolution

UNCITRAL’s Working Group II met for its 79th session from 12 to 16 February 2024 in New York to finalize its work on model clauses on highly expedited arbitration, adjudication, technical advisors and confidentiality. 

DIS Statistics: DIS-ERA Pledge Gender Champion Initiative 2023

The DIS Gender Statistics on the appointment of arbitrators in DIS-administered arbitrations for the year 2023 show a record high for the appointment of female arbitrators in DIS arbitrations. 

DIS Statement on the Draft Bill for the Modernisation of Arbitration Law

The DIS has submitted a statement on the Draft Bill of the Federal Ministry of Justice for the Modernization of Arbitration Law. 

Nomination for GAR Award for Greener Arbitration

The German Arbitration Institute (DIS) has been nominated for the "GAR Award for Greener Arbitration" in recognition of its efforts to make arbitration more sustainable, in particular by promoting environmentally friendly travel to the DIS Autumn Conference 2023 by Deutsche Bahn at reduced rates.

Webinars on the Draft Bill for the Modernisation of Arbitration Law

In two webinars, the DIS discussed with its members and the interested (arbitration) public the Federal Ministry of Justice's Draft Bill on the Modernisation of Arbitration Law.

20. Petersberger Schiedstage 2024: Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit in Zeiten von Krieg und Krisen

On 24 February 2024, the DIS together with BeckAkademie Seminare/Publisher C.H.BECK oHG organised the 20th Petersberg Arbitration Days, this year on the important and highly topical subject of "Arbitration in times of war and crisis". 

Road to Vienna 2024: DIS Pre-Moot

On 8 and 9 March 2024, the DIS has opened its doors for the DIS Pre-Moot Bonn. The event was jointly organized with the Bonn Moot Association (BMA) and served as prelude to the 31 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

In our Lunch DIScussions on "The Limits of the Discounted Cash Flow Approach: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," the experts Alexander Demuth, Björn Brand, and Christian Gruschwitz from Secretariat discussed the multifaceted nature of the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method. 

DIS@HIAD: Efficiency in the Digital Age – Where do we come from, where are we going?

“Efficiency in the digital age” was the theme of the DIS side event at the Hamburg International Arbitration Days hosted by Taylor Wessing in their freshly renovated lounge on the 21st floor of their Hamburg office.

RTMKM@DIS: Round Table on Mediation and Conflict Management of the German Economy (RTMKM)

On February 27, 2024, a meeting of Round Table on Mediation and Conflict Management of the German Economy (RTMKM) was hosted by DIS in Bonn. The meeting started with a focus on arbitration with an interesting panel discussion on 'Time as a procedural criterion and approaches to acceleration'.

20. Petersberger Schiedstage 2024: Cooperation Agreement GAA - Georgian Association of Arbitrators & DIS

The DIS is delighted to announce the co-operation with the GAA - Georgian Association of Arbitrators. The aim of the co-operation is to establish a joint bilateral country group: DIS/GAA Arbitration Group. The group is intended to create a bilateral forum to promote cross-border knowledge and dialogue. 

Delegation of the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC) will visit DIS

The DIS is pleased to extend a warm welcome to a select delegation from the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC) at our Berlin office on 9 April 2024.

CEA/CIAM/DIS Arbitration Group - Presentation in Madrid

The Joint Working Group of the German Arbitration Institute DIS, the Spanish Arbitration Institution CIAM-CIAR and the Spanish Arbitration Association CEIA organizes a one-day event in Madrid on the occasion of the signature of the Collaboration Agreements of DIS with CEIA and CIAM-CIAR, respectively.

DIS@ICCA: International and German Perspectives on Post M&A Disputes

The DIS will hold a side event as part of the XXVIth Congress of International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). In both cross-border corporate transactions and domestic transactions within Germany, arbitration has become a prevalent method of resolving post M&A disputes.
